Nordicans fed up with noir

Nordic noir might be popular with the rest of the world but the residents of the Nordic region are fed up. Even children’s cartoons are infected with the need to have a murder solved by a gloomy detective with a drink problem. TV adverts focus on cleaning products and how well they would clean a crime scene.

Nordicans are trying to get the message out that they like other things as well. Kittens, comedy, cooking, singing and sports. Cultural Attaché Magnus Magmasson explained, “we have a highly developed sense of humour and find all sorts of things funny such as amusing patterns in the tundra, the comic antics of Arctic Fox and jokes about reindeer pooh”.

There is a rich Nordic culinary tradition that many think could be used as a basis for cookery shows. Everyone loves Surstromming (fermented fish), salty liquorice (you can afford liquorice to anything), Hakarl (fermented shark), Smalahove (boiled sheep’s head) and many other delicacies. A Nordic cookery series would be a smash hit.
