The star of The Chase and Paul Sinha’s Perfect Pub Quiz was asked to prove he was born in the UK by NHS. When the Home Office heard his response they had doubts. He could risk deportation.
Paul Sinha had been approached by his local NHS Trust for various documents to prove that he was born in the UK. This is despite having an NHS pension from having worked as a GP after graduating from St George’s Hospital Medical School.
The letter from the NHS warned that he could have appointments cancelled, be removed from waiting lists and charged for treatments if he did not get back to the trust with evidence of his UK citizenship.
Responding on X (the shit show formerly known as Twitter) he noted that he was born in Luton. A keen eyed Home Office official spotted this and had doubts.
The official was suspicious that someone who claimed to be from Luton could Tweet complete sentences without spelling mistakes, owned a suit and had a job. When asked what might be done with him the official suggested he could be relocated.
But where to?
He replied, “Name a land locked African country known as the land of a thousand hills”.
