Eager to please the anointed one and hopefully avoid tariffs Starmer has pre-empted Trump’s imperialist tendency for expansion. Admittedly it doesn’t have the sea front possibilities of Gaza and it doesn’t have the mineral wealth of Greenland. With unexploited oil and gas along with reserves of critical metals, it is easy to see why Trump wants to protect Greenland.
Barnsley does have much to offer. It has several coal merchants and oil suppliers. It does have a coalfield although the mine closed in 1991. It does not have any minerals but it does have plenty of limestone.
It does have several golf courses which must make it an attractive proposition for the mango mayhem meister.
