Trump has just signed an order to rename the Mexican wave. He has also mandated a change to stop it looking woke.
The most splendid emporer of everything that is orange has been playing with his Sharpie again, presumably because his pudgy hands struggle with grown up pens. The latest Executive Order has mandated that the Mexican wave will now be called the Wave of America. Heralding his latest inspired vision he said, “The American Wave is a beautiful thing. Nobody knows why it was called a Mexican wave. Nobody wanted it called a Mexican wave. So now it is the Wave of America”.
The second part of the order takes aim at the practice of raising both arms in the air. Trump continued, “I don’t like the way that people do it. It looks like surrender. No American has ever surrendered. That word does not exist in the dictionary. I am going to ban that word. The Wave of America will be done with just the right arm held stiffly at 45 degrees. We have a special place for anyone who doesn’t comply”.

In the Northern hemisphere the Mexican wave usually goes clockwise whereas in the Southern hemisphere it goes counter-clockwise.
The first documened occurrence of a Mexican Wave was at a a playoff game between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees on 15th October 1981. It was led by professional cheerleader Krazy George Henderson. He has led Mexican waves on various occasions in the preceding years. He does not take credit for coming up with it as he had seen similar things done before.
There are accounts that the Mexican wave (la Ola) first occured among fans watching a local derby soccer match between Monterrey and Tigres in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, in the 1970’s.
