The organisation that defines how the internet operates and sets the standards (W3C) has shut down its X account and moved to Mastodon. Elon Musk is said to be looking for more toys to throw out of his pram.
The World Wide Web consortium (W3C) has closed its X/Twitter account and announced that it has moved its social media presence to Mastodon.
W3C are the organisation that defines how the World Wide Web works and creates the standards that website creators and browser developers refer to. They are fundamental to how the internet works.

W3C has been on Twitter for over 14 years being one of the early adopters. W3C has moved to all it’s future postings to Mastodon, a federated micro blogging system similar to Twitter.
Who needs the W3C and their poxy internet
This relocation is in keeping with it’s involvement in developing ActivityPub which is the technology underpinning Mastodon. W3C have been on Mastodon since 2017, and now this is their principal social media outlet.
