Following the announcement of a massive hike in flight duty for private jet travel, the privileged are upset. Excruciata Reees-Mog argues that the privileged are essential.
Hell my lovelies. I am guessing that many of you are as horrified as I am about the budget yesterday. While it is going to be a pain paying all my minimum wage staff a little bit more, that is not what is upsetting. We will have to pay over £1000 air duty per passenger to fly to the Caribbean! I am appalled.
This is just a mean and vindictive move against us privileged people. As many of you will know we do not own our own jet, but a friend of Jakey’s does let us borrow his when we need to travel. Many others also borrow other people’s private jets for essential travel. It makes sense and keeps the pilots and cabin crew in employment which is a good thing.
Do they seriously expect us privileged people and CEOs to queue in those squalid airports with all the nasty dirty Wayne’s and Kylies with their snotty nosed children?
they forget the essential contribution our privilege brings to society
In their headlong rush to attack our deserved privileges they forget the essential contribution our privilege brings to society. As I have already mentioned, this privilege makes a contribution to society in employment. Apart from the pilots and cabin crew there are also the engineers who maintain them and the people who fuel them. They all need jobs.
Private jets do not magically appear. They have to be made. The companies who make them employ lots of people. For the sake of all these people I will continue to fly in a private jet and let them enjoy the benefits of my privilege. Surely I deserve some sort of award for this sacrifice?
