Champagne vagrants living the high life on UK streets

Suella Braverman has highlighted the plague of people living the vagrant lifestyle on the streets of Britain. The pesky champagne vagrants who are too stingy to book hotels are choosing to put up tents to sleep in the dry.

in advance of her proposals to replace the 1824 Vagrancy Act, Suella Braverman tweeted about the distress caused by homeless people using tents to keep dry in winter. The distress was so great that no national news outlets had reported anything about it which is strange. It gives the impression that it is almost a none problem.

“We cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice.”

Skilfully combining the awkwardness of being aware of people in crisis but not caring enough to do anything about it, with the easy hatred of immigrants she has crafted the perfect pretext to punch down on the most vulnerable people. It makes it easy for soulless right-whingers to dismiss the homeless as immigrants.

If you are one of those who don’t believe in the champagne vagrant narrative you could help by donating to the Big Issue or Shelter who help the homeless.
