A woman has admitted that despite agreeing with all her friends that they were all doing Dry January, she never even started it. She says that it all seemed exciting and doable when they were all drunk on New Year’s eve, but now it is awkward.
Amy Stake (28) was out partying with her partner and their friends on New Year’s eve when someone suggested doing Dry January this year. None of them had done it before and it felt new and exciting. They all took a solemn agreement that they would not have a drink in January.
By the morning she had completely forgotten about it. Her partner had to go away for a week so she had no-one to remind her. A week later one of her friends messaged her to complain that the Dry January thing was proving really difficult and wanted to know how she was coping.
Amy decided to bluff it out and say it was terrible. Deciding there was no point starting late she carried on. When her partner came back she took to hiding under the bed sheets to drink her wine.
