From politicians, to business leaders, teachers to grumpy parents, everybody is taking advantage of the ‘current crisis’ to excuse all sorts of crappy decisions and behaviour.
Have an Election Manifesto pledge made by a former leader of your party that really doesn’t sit comfortably with how you and your friends see the world? Perhaps pledges that don’t directly benefit you or your friends such as Social Care or an adequately funded education system. You can kick them into the long grass. The very long grass, grass so long you could hide a herd of white elephants. Blame it on the current crisis and assure everyone that it will be revisited when conditions have changed, and when you have moved on.
Business leaders who had promised break and toilet facilities for their staff can carry on using the space that used to be the canteen and toilets, as a management gym and sauna space. The current crisis is the perfect reason why the production line staff will have to wear nappies at work for another year.
Council leaders who really couldn’t give a shit about Christmas have the perfect excuse to put up a rubbish Christmas tree and only put up a handful of lights. The stingier they are the more kudos they get from the local community. Present it in the right way and you are guaranteed a large number of voters.
Teachers are conflicted about Christmas. They enjoy the long break, but hate the run up. The Christmas show, decorating classrooms, the Christmas show, Christmas cards, the Christmas show, over excited children being sick and the Christmas show. As the Christmas show takes resources, and some parents might feel marginalised because they can’t contribute (even though no one has asked them), then cancelling the Christmas show because of the ‘current crisis’ is an act of mercy. Gerrin there!!!
Parents, you are already adept in deception and manipulation – you know who are! Who is ready to go for the Santa isn’t coming because of the ‘current crisis’ line? Make sure you liaise with lots of other parents in the area.
