Millenials on how much better things were when they were young

Ah, the good old days. While boomers are going on about pogo-sticks, lethal playgrounds and chewing on toys coated in lead paints, Millenials are reminiscing about other things. Nostalgia has moved on. Windows XP, Teletubbies, Despicable Me.

Move aside Boomers, Millenials are taking over and they have set their sights on nostalgia. The Millenial generation is about to become more important than their predecessor with their numbers about to exceed baby boomers. They remember their good old days better than boomers do. They don’t have to remember so far back!

Many look back on their 90s childhood as being less complicated and less stressful until the boomers and Gen Zers fucked it up with the economic crash of 2008, austerity, low wages and surging property prices.

Ah, the sweet, bittersweet pang of nostalgia that hits like a ton of floppy disks whenever they stumble upon an old Nokia phone or a VHS tape. Simpler days when life’s biggest problem was deciding which color of butterfly clip to put in their hair or which wrist band to put on.

Those Sunday evenings making sure your Tamagotchi didn’t starve? Carefully nurture that pixelated creature, only to have it beep at the most inconvenient times – like during class when your teacher was explaining the quadratic equation. And if you were really fancy, you had a Furby that would randomly wake up in the middle of the night, scaring you half to death with its eerie “Furbish” language.

Movies such as Final Destination, Scream, House of Wax were great. Films today don’t have the same effect because when they see Iron Man fly through the sky they know that it’s Robert Downey jr in a little fake suit or some animation on a green screen. They also hark back to childhood films such as Emperor’s New Groove, Beauty and the Beast, Despicable Me or Toy Story 3 with fondness.

There is nothing to compare with the books back then much as Poptropica, the Magic Tree House books, the 39 Clues, Percy Jackson, the Kane Chronicles, Skulduggery Pleasant or Diary of a Wimpy Kid. There’s nothing remotely similar to that these days.

Millenials are also remembering what their parents were wearing when they were little and they hadn’t quite given up on life. Loose fitting clothes and Calvin Klein capsule denim are now their go tos.
