Other evidence they cite to discredit her so called ‘green credentials’ is her habit of wearing manufactured clothes and shoes. They claim that true greenists would knit their own clothes from stinging nettle fibre and hemp. She is known for wearing used clothes.
The most damning criticism revolves about her owning a mobile phone. Surely mobile phones are one of the most potent symbols of every day conspicuous consumption? To own one must make the user complicit with the corporations that control the platforms.
There is a lot of suspicion about her first name with a circumflex over the ‘a’ – â. Many felt it was definitely a bit foreign. No English name would have a fancy pants letter in it.
