Rod Stewart with his model railway and the text "give Nigel Farage a chance"

Model railway enthusiasts upset over Rod Stewart

Ahead of his Glastonbury appearance he expressed support for Farage. Model railway enthusiasts are mortified.

In an interview with The Times Sir Rod called on the UK to give Reform UK Party Ltd a chance.

We’ve got to give Farage a chance

He then went on to say, “I know his brother, and I quite like him.” So his support for Farage is based on his brother is okay. Fred West had a brother who was an okay regular bloke. Knowing a relative does not mean the other is the same.

Stewart is known to be a model railway enthusiast with a large layout in the attic of his home in Los Angeles. Other model railway enthusiasts have distanced themselves from his comments about Farage.

Many have taken to social media to express their feelings about Stewart’s comment. Frank Hornby from Liverpool posted, “I now feel ashamed to be a model railway fan. I am thinking of taking up another hobby. User Zero-1 reacted, “How could another trainer say such things? So ashamed.” Another unhappy model train fan DoubleO4life responded, “He has broken the cardinal rule of train club. We never show awareness of the real world and never do politics”. Many more vowed to scrap their train sets. Some were trolled by the account DrBeeching who expressed delight that they might be getting rid of their railways.

Stewart was also very humble about how rich he is… “It’s hard for me because I’m extremely wealthy, and I deserve to be, so a lot of it doesn’t really touch me. But that doesn’t mean I’m out of touch.” Hmm. Presumably he can afford health insurance which people will need if Reform UK Party Ltd take government. Farage is pretty explicit about his intention to replace the NHS with health insurance.
