As it had been about six years since he last met Putin a performance review meeting was long overdue. Trump met with Putin in Anchorage Alaska on Friday. With an effusive display of bonhomie and toadying Trump joined Putin for his review.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Putin patted Trump on the head and fed him biscuits while saying “Whose a good boy? Whose a good boy? Yes you are. You’re a very good boy.” Putin also reminded Trump that his interference in the 2016 election did not happen and that naughty Robert Mueller was telling fibs.
Hoping to get his tummy tickled next time Trump dutifully repeated the election interference denial to reporters afterwards while wishing he had a tail to wag.
Trump has consistently favoured Putin over long-standing friends and allies of the USA. Bolstered by Putin’s encouragement he hinted that European leaders could jeopardise Putin’s plan of getting whatever he wanted if they tried to interfere. He was mostly concerned that he wouldn’t get his tummy rubbed next time if Putin was unhappy.
