In a meeting with various leaders and Zelensky, the suggestion to offer Alaska to Putin in exchange for Ukrainian territory was discussed. As Trump is keen to give away land of other countries it is likely he would agree.
For Zelensky the opportunity to hold talks with grown-ups was a welcome change. At the meeting in Lancaster House hosted by Keir Starmer, Zelensky met with the leaders of France, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, Norway, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, Finland, Italy, Spain and Canada.
During the summit a four point plan leading to an end to the war and ensuring peace was discussed. Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, proposed that the Russians could be offered Alaska in exchange for the Ukrainian territory they had invaded. The general feeling was that this was a good idea. Alaska used to belong to Russia. Trump is comfortable about land grabs such as Greenland and Gaza , as well as giving Ukrainian land to Russia. They could not see how he could object to others giving away US territory.
Alaska was purchased from Russia in 1867 for $7.2 million, equivalent to $162 million today. So not really worth much then. Trump is said to think that there was very little point in Alaska so a deal might be possible.
