Starmer deciding what to U-turn about next

What next after winter fuel payments, the rape gang enquiry and now welfare reform? Starmer careering all over place.

The climb down over welfare reform on Tuesday was the third U turn for the Labour government. Career Starmer is looking for other possibilities for future U-turns. Perhaps the Tobacco and Vapes Bill would be a good candidate. Will certainly be unpopular with those born after 2009.

The Crime and Policing Bill also has various possibilities for triggering a U-turn. There are concerns over sentence inflation, protest rights and erosion of police accountability all with out addressing the root causes of reoffending.

There is every possibility that the High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Bill will be dropped in favour of a bus replacement service.
