With stoic good grace Farage accepted the by-election defeat and declared Matt Goodwin to be the Shadow MP for Gorton and Denton.
The Green Party’s first by-election win with 14,980 votes pushed Reform UK Ltd into second place with a respectable 10,578 votes. With characteristic good humour Farage has accepted that Reform has been voted in to a Shadow role in the Gorton and Denton constituency.
He has assiured everyone that Matt Goodwin will perform his duties as the Shadow member of parliament with due diligence. Goodwin has promised that he will follow Farage’s example and will rarely ever go near his shadow constituency or the houses of parliament.
