Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has revealed that the financial crisis crippling local authorities must be due to the money spent on diversity, equality and inclusion courses. It has absolutely nothing to do with 14 years of chronic budget cuts by the Tories.
Ahead of Wednesday’s budget there has been a clear message that Councils must reduce spending on consultants and diversity schemes. Obviously the total money spent would save all the libraries, care homes and other facilities being closed.
In 2021-22 Lincolnshire spent a staggering £10920 on DEI training. That would surely have filled a couple of potholes and transformed the county.
Wandsworth really pushed the boat out and spent £9278 over the same period. Moray council spends about £41k per year to employ a DEI officer. Nottinghamshire spends £39,800 on an Equality officer. Some of the equality training that some of these councils provide include British Sign Language which is a disgusting woke abhorrence.
