Jeremy Hunt; Rwanda, the answer to savings to fund tax cuts

Desparate to come up with tax cuts to salvage Tory economic credibility Jeremy Hunt needs to make spending cuts. With money being ‘wasted’ on things like prisons, benefits, health and education there is a lot of scope to save money. Rwanda is the key.

With an historically high tax burden Jeremy Hunt is under pressure to deliver tax cuts at any cost. Inspired by the idea of sending immigrants to Rwanda, the possibilities are endless.

Pensioners

Obviously they will appreciate the warmer climate, and they would only need to be given a pension equivalent to the cost of living in Rwanda which would be lower than the UK. Relatives would be grateful that they have the perfect pretext not to waste Sundays visiting them. This would reduce car journeys so be a benefit to the environment. A double win.

Unemployed

With the long term unemployed being a major drain on the benefits system, shipping them off to Rwanda would be a great idea. There are likely to be plenty of jobs looking after the old folk shipped out as well as looking after the prisoners…

Prisoners

For long term prisoners this is looking like a real money saver. It will be just like the glory days of Australia again. With lots of newly employed, ex-unemployed, to look after them what could be better. See how well thought through this is.

Poor children

Keen to demonstrate that he is not a one trick chancellor, sending any children from poor families up chimneys rather than sending them to school is being explored.
