The BBC Prom season starts tonight. As before it will feature a pop Prom. Their choice of artists has been controversial in the past. Are they going to go too far?
With the BBC Proms season starting tonight rumours are swirling around their choices for the pop proms. Last year they triggered a storm of controversy among people who never watch The Proms by featuring Sam Smith.
This year rumours are swirling that they will feature two acts that caused a storm of outrage among people who were not there and did not watch it. Leaked listings of the planned performances have carefully avoided overtly naming Bob Vylan and Kneecap.
One bloke on X posted, “Not announcing them is just the sort of sneaky thing the pencil necks at the BBC would do. Defund them!”. Another posted, “I can’t believe they would even consider these bands. I am horrified”
The BBC were contacted for comment and gave the following statement, “Your call is important to us. We are experiencing higher than normal call volumes as some knobhead started a rumour about the Proms. You are caller number 34 in the queue.”
