This year they have been caught on the hop by many buying plastic petrol cans and filling them up with petrol or diesell. The price of fuel has made this a high value gift for grateful mothers.
Stations around the country have reported that they quickly ran out of fuel cans. Argos stores also ran out of stocks by midday.
