A large section of a hillside on fire during day time. Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh

Scottish volcano eruption still cause for concern

The eruption of a long dormant volcano in a large Scottish city yesterday is being monitored closely.

Long thought to be a completely extinct volcano, the Edinburgh landmark Arthur’s Seat burst into life on Sunday. Just 1 mile away from Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat forms part of Holyrood Park which is much loved by the city’s residents.

Confused reports are coming out of Edinburgh of flames shooting out of the side of Arthur’s Seat. There is no news of any planned evacuation. There have been unconfirmed reports of Edinburgh citizens approaching the affected areas with sausages, steaks and lamb chops. Yells of “It’s Barbie time Mon!” are thought to have been heard.

So far the organisers of the mildly bizarre Moonwalk event in the area on 6th September have not given any indication of any change to their plan. This event raises money to support work on breast cancer.
