The re-emergence of Liz Truss in her YouTube show is a timely reminder of the debt of gratitude the UK has to its transgender civil servants.
As a festive season treat Liz Truss has produced a series of shows to rival the comedy greats of previous years. While the Christmas specials of yesteryear were much loved there is room for something more modern and relevant. There is a limit to number of reruns of the Morecambe and Wise, Only Fools and Horses and the Vicar of Dibley that the viewing public will accept.
She presents her take on current political and societal themes in the manner of a cross between Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat and the clueless Jim Hacker from Yes Minister. She plays the part of the former Prime Minister whose term in office was exceeded by the shelf life of a lettuce. For comedic purposes she has altered various facts such as she chose to resign rather than being pushed out. The idea that the whole financial system is a Marxist Deep State entity also adds to the comedy.
This does give an opportunity for the nation to reflect on the role of those stalwarts of the Civil Service – the transgender backbone of the Deep State. Without their dedicated and selfless service the nation will have suffered a prolonged term of total incompetence and farcical economic catastrophe. Thank you to the transgender Civil Servants. Not all heroes wear capes, but quite a lot of you do.
