Despite initial high hopes that Meghan would be taking part in the belching championship in Italy, a royal expert has made up the news that she won’t be attending.
The annual Belching Competition is held in Italy every June. It is called RuttoSound and is held in the northern province of Reggio Emilia. The event’s founder Stefano Morselli calls it “the Italian burp league”. Morselli has been frustrated that the local media pretty much ignore it. He was excited at the possibility that a high profile figure was planning to take part. “If Meghan Markle takes part that would really put us in the big league. We could even create a new category of ‘Royal Belcher’ and invite other royalty to challenge “.
Royal ‘expert’ Tom Quinn reports that palace insiders have said that Meghan would do well at a belching contest. He has made up accounts of staff recounting tales of her belches having a magnificent timbre that would rattle the cutlery on the table from twenty paces. She also has an impressive sustain. Apparently she can sustain a belch for 45 seconds easily. That is no where near long enough to get her into the record books, but is a good start for a competition.
The longest burp is 1 minute 13 seconds by fellow American Kimberly “Kimycola” Winter.

You can hear a recording of her belch.
Meghan is reputed to have said that, “Kimberly is my inspiration. I have been having training sessions with her. She is magnificent”. When approached for a comment about her withdrawal from the competition she enigmatically replied, “I have no idea what you are talking about. How did you get this number and please stop ringing”.
There we have it. Conclusive proof that she was going to take part but withdrew. Perhaps next year. Morselli was pragmatic and belched down the phone.
