The viewing figures for this series have seen a large decline. The number of viewers watching the first episode was down 2.2 million from last year and has further declined by 1.3 million. It has been moved to a less favourable spot.
Some commentators have blamed the inclusion of Nigel Farage for the poor performance of the programme. While it is easy for people to pin the blame on him, the programme has included contentious people in the past and it hasn’t affected viewing figures. Last year Matt Hancock who was widely reviled because of his handling of the Covid-19 crisis, went on to do well, coming third.
