In a bizarre pronouncement Truss continues to show she lives in an alternative Universe. Still desperately clinging on to the delusion that she has an iota of credibility, the poster girl for incompetence is trying to recast her failure as being the result of her budget being brought down by “the left-wing economic establishment”.

So she’s trying to convince herself that the pension providers, banks, mortgage providers, equity fund managers and the other financial institutions have all gone a bit lefty. Really? Nothing to do with the insane nonsense of a budget that had NOT been reviewed by the Office for Budgetary Responsibility that aimed to shrink the government coffers during a period with MASSIVE government debt, rising inflation and moribund productivity.
The financial institutions were acting as they normally do to protect their assets and exposure to risks. There are thousands of people saddled with substantial mortgage costs because she has the economic understanding of a toenail.
The notion of financial institutions being a bit lefty is as ridiculous as Jeremy Corbyn being a bit Liberal.
Her comment that “we were also pushing water uphill” should inform her of something. Perhaps pushing water uphill isn’t what water was designed for. If you want to get water uphill you need a pump in good working order. The pump, in this case the economy, was broken with not much water available. Maybe there is a future scenario where her ‘vision’ for the economy might operate without destroying the UK economy. However if she is too stupid to grasp that the conditions don’t currently exist then she should stick to her alternative reality and keep quiet.
To her supporters saying she had the right ideas at the wrong time – you’re idiots. One of the basic rules of not being incompetent is to have the right idea at the right time. No point a footballer taking a superlative kick at a ball which is at the other end of the pitch. Any idiot can do that.
