The new Ridley Scott film of the life of Napoleon Bonaparte features the very un-French Joaquin Phoenix. Normally there would be a continuous chorus of outrage about Joaquin Phoenix not being French, however there aren’t any good French actors.
The director Ridley Scott searched the whole of France searching for a half decent actors who were suitable but was unable to find any. Gérard Depardieu and Jean Reno are too old and Vincent Cassel too ugly,
If only the French had a vibrant movie industry.
