Nestlé withdraw chocolate bars that no-one likes

The company has announced that the Caramac bar would cease production as hardly anyone bought and ate them any more. They are also withdrawing Animal Bars. No one likes them either.

Nestlé has announced that they are to cease production of the Caramac and Animal bars because not many people liked them to bother buying them.

Social Media has had a limp trickle of old people moaning about the loss of the Caramac bar that most have not eaten for at least 30 years.

“There has been a steady decline in its sales over the past few years and we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it. We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but this change will enable us to focus on our best-performing brands, as well as develop exciting new innovations to delight out consumers’ tastebuds.”

The Caramac bars were first introduced in 1959 by the then manufacturer Macintosh in Norwich. The principal ingredients then were treacle, sweetened condensed milk, butter and salt. When Macintosh merged with Rowntree in the bar was discontinued in 1995. In 1996 it was brought back, being made in the Nestlé factory on Tyneside after the company had been taken over. It is likely that during this time the bar was reformulated to cut production costs.

The change in formulation did not go unnoticed.

“I was so happy they bought back caramac a few yeas ago but its nothing like it was in the 70s! So much disappointment when i opened the wrapper and it wasn’t even the right colour or texture”
