Hooray! Summer is here, but that won’t stop us finding things to get annoyed about. Here is a handy guide to opportunities to get your grump on.
Now that the sun has arrived people are heading out into the gardens, parks and beaches to enjoy themselves. Here are somethings to get annoyed about.
Children enjoying themselves
Even though older people will berate children for not playing outdoors, they don’t want them doing it anywhere near them. Splashing about in a paddling pool and shrieking with laughter must at least require a complaint on a local Facebook group about disturbing the peace.
Lads kicking a football about
A bunch of lads kicking a football about in the middle of a park brings fear to an otherwise idyllic scene.
Barbecues
Nothing is more emblematic of summer than people taking meat outside to burn it in the garden. Blokes who would never be seen anywhere near a kitchen suddenly have the delusion that they are gods of the barbecue. Neighbours can complain about the acrid charcoal fumes burning their eyes.
Vegans and barbecues
Ever year a spurious story goes round social media that claims a vegan has left a note for a neighbour asking them to stop having barbecues as the smell is offensive. So we can get grumpy about vegans as well even if there isn’t one within 20 miles.
Blokes with shit taste in music driving around playing it loudly with the car windows open
I think everyone can get behind this one. There is also Bellend’s Rule that states that “the worse the taste in music the louder they play it”.
Sunbathing neighbour complaining about having neighbours
Every street will have at least one person, typically a woman in her 30s with an OnlyFans or Instagram account, who will go to Reddit to complain about a neighbour who notices them sunbathing in the garden. This post will of course contain links to their OnlyFans or Instagram account where everyone can see that she isn’t too concerned about peopling seeing her body.
