Petrol stations around the country have reported unprecedented sales of flowers and chocolates. Most sold out by mid-afternoon.
All across the country petrol stations reported queues of blokes waiting for them to open. They were all after last minute Mothers Day gifts. Flowers and chocolates were the most popular purchases. By midday many petrol stations in the Midlands and North East were reporting that they had sold out of flowers and chocolates.
In desperation many blokes were just buying anything they could find. Lots of mothers were treated to crisps and 2 litre bottles of fizzy drinks. Otters got sets of screwdrivers or thermos mugs.
By the middle of the afternoon all the petrol stations in the country were reporting that they had sold out of everything. Even cans of Dr Pepper’s and Prawn Cocktail crisps that nobody normally buys, had all been sold.
