While Musk is mastering the art of unscheduled explosive disassembly Honda have had a spectacular success with a reusable rocket test.

The Japanese car maker has decided to expand in to the space sector. Yesterday they had a successful test of a reusable rocket. The current rocket is 6 metres tall and reached the planned altitude of 300 metres before returning safely to the ground. It landed 37 centimetres from the planned return point.

Honda plan to develop the ability for suborbital launch by 2029. The aim is to provide a reliable and cost effective system for delivering satellites into orbit. A spokesperson said, “Honda has chosen to take on the technological challenge of developing reusable rockets by utilizing Honda technologies amassed in the development of various products and automated driving systems”.

Harnessing the reliability and safety of the Honda car manufacturing business, it can be assumed that they will apply the same standards and attention to detail in their rocket development endeavour. In much the same way. Musk has carried over the shambolic management and development ethos of Tesla to SpaceX resulting in a series of spectacular failures.
