City leaders recommend dressing for warmth

Following on from the governor of Tokyo recommending that residents where Turtleneck jumpers to stay warm other city leaders have jumpered on the bandwagon.

Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has urged all Manchester City Council staff and residents to wear Parkas. He has been supported by the Gallagher brothers who have promised to donate all their Parkas to needy Manchester residents.

Not to be outdone the Mayor of Birmingham, Maureen Cornish, has announced that everyone in Birmingham should wear donkey jackets.

Karen Robinson, Mayor of Newcastle, was quoted as saying “I canna see what all the fuss is about”, and suggested residents might want to put on long sleeved tee-shirts if it starts snowing. She may have muttered something about softie southerners.
