Man who isn’t religious angry over plans to ban praying

The plans to ban praying in public and schools only affects Québec, but that has not stopped one resident of Barnsley from staging a protest. He isn’t even religious.

Arthur Brayncel hasn’t been in a church for several decades and has never seen a bible. He certainly has never prayed, except to ask for Barnsley FC not to be removed from the 2023-24 Emirates FA Cup. His prayer was not answered.

He is angry that François Legault wants to ban public praying. Legault has declared, “Seeing people praying in the streets, in public parks, is not something we want”. Arthur is angry that praying in schools will also be affected. “It just ain’t right. We’ve always had praying in schools in Engerland. It’s traditernal”.

When it was mentioned that Legault is the premier of Québec and this only applies in Québec Arthur wasn’t swayed. “Yeah, but it’s giving Labour ideas and they need to know that we won’t stand for it”. When he later learnt that it was aimed at Muslims praying in classrooms, streets and in parks he was in favour. “Of course that ain’t right. They should stick to praying in churches like normal people”.
