Anti-climate change boycott backfires. Coffee chain sales double

Climate change denier and Reclaim Party leader Laurence Fox spearheaded a boycott of a small independent coffee shop chain because of their climate change position. They have never been happier.

The Grind chain of coffee shops is a small independent chain of coffee shops in London UK. They are committed to providing organic, Fair Trade, plastic free and environmentally friendly coffee and snacks.

Laurence Fox is a failed actor, failed MP, failed Pride flag burner, failed recording artist that has now reinvented himself as a culture war warrior. He has created his own party – the Reclaim Party.

The coffee shop chain had inadvertently bought advertising slots on GB News when it purchased an advertising package. When they found out their adverts were appearing on GB News they were not pleased and withdrew the adverts.

the sceptical stance on climate change adopted by many of the channels presenters does not align with Grind’s sustainability efforts.

After the advert was withdrawn one of the GB News presenters, Michelle Dewberry, reached the conclusion (by an amazing feat of mental gymnastics) that the withdrawal of the advert was an attack on free speech. As the finances of GB News are very precarious lashing out at advertisers is obviously the smart thing to do. They obviously desperately needed the £716 that the adverts would have brought them.

Laurence Fox, sensing an opportunity for pointless posturing, decided to post on Twitter (now deleted) that he was leading a crusade to boycott Grind and even thought of a hashtag .

Unfortunately this backfired spectacularly as Laurence has no concept of how many people dislike him with a visceral intensity. Far from a boycott, the coffee shop chain gained lots of new friends on Twitter which they celebrated with a massive sign celebrating the failed boycott.

More importantly for a small independent chain of shops, they doubled the amount of business as a result of the Laurence’s ‘boycott’. They received so much support they placed a big billboard outside one of their shops and out a statement thanking him for connecting them to new customers.

Laurence Fox can now add boycott leader to his list of failures. Apparently lots of companies have been in touch with him requesting boycotts.
