Hootenany cancelled. Jools Holland is relieved

Shock news that the Jools Holland Hootenanny programme is cancelled has just been released. The British public has suffered enough and to be honest most of the acts are now too old to leave their care homes.

The Hootenanny programme has been a New Year feature on the BBC since 1992. Having exactly the same formula for all of the previous 30 episodes, even Jools Holland has got fed up with it.

“We have run out of old acts to drag out to give a last gasp in front of an audience. Their carers have said they are all too old to go out “.

They are also struggling to find younger performers who are willing to have their songs trashed by the addition of Jool’s distinctive boogie woogie piano playing. One famous artist, who wishes to remain anonymous, commented “if I wanted to have a boogie woogie song I would have fucking written it like that. I didn’t”.

Who can forget when Jools and Adrian Edmondson performed a swing version of the Sex Pistols’ Anarchy in the UK. Many tears were shed and former punks questioning whether they should have embraced swing music instead of punk rock.

Jools Holland has reflected that the British Public has suffered enough, and that he would just like to put his feet up and watch the Rick Astley show or Gogglebox.
