Bigots will struggle to find a DIY store they are happy with

Following a strong inclusivity announcement from Wickes CEO there was a predictable meltdown among bigots. Problem is there might not be any alternatives for them.

Wickes CEO, Fraser Longden, took part in a trans summit hosted by Pink News on Thursday. At that event he took the opportunity to state ‘I don’t think I’m ever going to change some of the bigots out there’s minds, I’m never going to win that argument with them, so we were doing it to show support to the community’.

Wickes, one of the largest DIY stores in the UK, carried a float at Brighton Pride last year with the slogan ‘No LGB without the T’. The predictable reaction among the socially challenged called for boycotts. Many took the opportunity to out themselves as bigots on social media such as Twitter, with declarations that they’ll never use Wickes again, and that they’d use B&Q instead.

Ironically the alternative DIY stores also have strong statements on tolerance and inclusivity such as B&Q, Travis Perkins, Screwfix, Toolstation, and Homebase.

So the good news is that if small minded bigots refuse to shop in any store that supports inclusivity, then you are unlikely to have to share space with them in any DIY store.
