Darwin Award 2023 candidate – Danny Lemoi

The late Danny Lemoi was an influencer who became prominent in 2021 advocating the use of Ivermectin against Covid-19. He had been taking it for about ten years. He died of Ivermectin sides-effects on March 3rd 2023. As he had no children he has not passed on his unique genes and is a Darwin Award contender.

What can be said about this gentleman who selflessly removed himself from the gene pool before he had children, and so prevented his DNA from becoming part of the gene pool?

He was born in Warwick (Rhode Island, USA) 50 years ago and lived in various towns in the area before setting in Foster. The first 40 years were fairly unremarkable. He played football and wrestled at High School, and later was known for singing Country songs in local bars. During the day he was a heavy equipment operator for various companies. Nothing out of the ordinary.

In 2012 Danny was diagnosed with Lyme’s disease. This is a bacterial disease typically transmitted by tick bites. The critical bit of information is that bacterial infections are best treated with antibiotics.

Lyme’s disease, in addition to producing a distinctive circular or oval rash, can also also lead to flu like symptoms, high temperature, headache, muscle and joint pain and loss of energy. There is also a chance that sufferers might develop pain and swelling in joints, pain or numbness, or heart problems a year or two later. The important thing is to seek and take medical advice. Obvious, and yet possibly too obvious.

In 2012 Danny decided to start taking daily doses of Ivermectin. But not tablets prescribed for humans. He took veterinary Ivermectin tablets formulated for horses and cows. The dosage was far in excess of what was safe for humans. He makes no mention of taking antibiotics. If there is any doubt that Ivermectin should be taken seriously the Missouri Poison Center have warned that ingesting large doses of ivermectin formulated for animals has a long list of side effects, including seizures, coma, lung issues, and heart problems.

While he apparently suffered some heart problems as a result of the Lyme’s disease but he had said that within 5 months of starting to take Ivermectin he quit all other treatments and believed ivermectin had “regenerated” his heart muscle. That might have been a good time to stop taking the Ivermectin.

Until 2020 he was just a crank quietly self-medicating on ridiculously high levels of Ivermectin. Then Covid-19 happened and Ivermectin became a popular topic among a select group of people especially in the USA. He became a star in his own Telegram channel – Dirt Road Discussions. Ivermectin had became a popular, but ineffective, alternative to recognised COVID-19 treatments. It was was heavily recfommended by anti-vaccine advocates. According to reports on his channel, some of Lemoi’s followers followed his dosage recommendations for themselves and children who have autism, Down syndrome and other conditions, and some of them reported alarming side effects.

Just before 7 am on March 3, Danny Lemoi posted an update on his Telegram group, Dirt Road Discussions: “HAPPY FRIDAY ALL YOU POISONOUS HORSE PASTE EATING SURVIVORS !!!”

He died several hours later

While his official cause of death has not been publicly released by his family, admins on his channel reported that “Though it was obvious that Danny had the biggest heart, it was unbeknownst to him that his heart was quite literally overworking and overgrowing beyond its capacity, nearly doubled in size from what it should have been,” the admins wrote, adding: “We understand that this is going to raise questions for those who were following him.” He had undergone heart tests the previous year and possibly shared information with them.

So likley he died from heart complications arising from the daily ingestion of massive doses of Ivermectin that is known to be toxic and cause herat problems, especially if taken in excess.

He is survived by his brother and father and thankfully no children.

The Darwin Awards were established around 1985 in a Usenet group in the early days of the internet. The criterion for eligibility are…

In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species’ chances of long-term survival.
