Tabloids regurgitate stories about children banging chairs, screaming and wearing flashing hats on airplanes every holiday season. It’s the same stories year after year. Click-bait for grumpy people. They missed the new in-flight horror. Space hoppers on a plane!
The spine chilling horror of kids on planes that can be simply rectified by a pair of good quality headphones and/or a blindfold, took a malevolent twist on an Air Europa flight last week. Passengers were first aware of a strange sound that was a bit like an air bed being inflated. They chuckled to themselves and joked about people going over the top getting ready for the pool.
The meal and drinks trollies went up and down the aisles serving the generously proportioned high quality food and beverages. This left everybody on the plane relaxed and in a good mood. Some settled down to read books, others turned to phones and tablets to play games or watch videos. One passengers, Mrs Trellis of North Wales, told us what happened next. “It was quiet when I headed to the toilet. After I’d finished I came out to a scene of carnage. Loads of people were taking selfies of themselves looking horrified. Others were putting on compo faces while filming what was happening behind them”.

What the strange sounds were earlier had become evident. A child was bouncing on a Space Hopper up and down the aisle. Hysterical passengers were flinging themselves over seats and screaming while filming themselves.

This has occurred on other flights. Crazed passengers on oneflight had tried to push them out of the windows while the plane was at 20,000 feet. Luckily the Space Hoppers got wedged in the windows.
One captain has commented that he has not heard so much entitled over-the-top baloney since a flight when a small child cried for 10 minutes. Most people had head phones on and ignored it. To the best of his knowledge a child bought a balloon onto a flight and it got blown up out of all proportion.
