With a shortage of trans women in the news to attack, she is now turning on cis women to vent her nastiness. Footballer, Barbra Banda, is on the receiving end of Rowling’s ignorance.
Recycling an Xcretion by Oliver Brown of The Telegraph critising the BBC for awarding Barbra Banda a player of the year award because she was “withdrawn from 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for failing to meet sex eligibility rules as Women’s Footballer”, Rowling couldn’t be bothered to check facts and just joined the pile-on like a hyperactive troll. In doing so she has helped to attack yet another woman of talent who does not fit in with her image of Aryan femininity.
In her Xcretion Rowling quotes Brown’s post with, “Presumably the BBC decided this was more time efficient than going door to door to spit directly into women’s faces”.
Both displayed staggering levels of ignorance on multiple levels. First that the BBC don’t choose the shortlisted candidates for the sports awards. That’s down to an independent selection panel. Secondly, the outcome is decided by a public vote. Thirdly, there is no doubt that Banda was born a girl, raised as a girl and competed for many years in football as a woman.
As Xcretions do not provide much room to really work on the ignorance, Michael Deacon of The Telegraph devoted a whole article to demonstrate his complete ignorance. A link is provided as a requirement, but it really is excrement with no depth or knowledge that could be gained by five minutes searching on the internet.
The ignorant such as Rowling, Brown and Deacon are latching on to a gender verification process confusion in 2022 when Banda was excluded from playing for Zambia in the African championship. The sex eligibility process was mishandled by authorities resulting in a doctor not being able to sign the necessary documents at the time. Banda was unable to play in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The African and Zambian football bodies botched Banda’s case, although FIFA is thought to be mostly to blame. The changing its policy and lack of proper guidance are believed to have been instrumental in the failure of the process. FIFA have declared Banda is eligible to compete in football tournaments as a woman.
There does seem to be a pattern of these people taking the ‘they are obviously men’ line to attack any person of colour who happens to have talent or ability.
