Terry Bell cannot remember how he came to pass out on the side of a river. He does remember his girlfriend telling everyone that they are doing dry January, although he can’t remember being involved in that decision. When he woke this morning it seems as if the Danish God of drinking, Carlsberg, was smiling on him.
Like many others, Terry Bell and his partner Sue Flaye, went out celebrating on New Year’s Eve. They met up with friends at the Fleece and Shaft pub. He can remember buying a bottle of whisky from the bar at some point. After that it all got a bit hazy.
When he woke up at the side of the river he felt quite shaky. He remembered his girlfriend talking about dry January and he vaguely thought it was probably a good idea. After a few minutes he was able to focus his eyes and noticed a can of Carlsberg at the edge of the water. When he fished out he saw it was unopened. Deciding that fate and the Gods had other plans for him he cracked it open and drank it down.
