The world is now a little less Perfect.

The death of Christine McVie was announced today. Long time member of Fleetwood Mac and writer of many of their favourite songs passed away after a short illness.

The Songbird of Smethwick, as almost nobody called her, was surrounded by her family when she died.

Born Christine Perfect in 1943, she grew up in Smethwick, nearer to Birmingham than Dudley but we still claim her. While learning to sculpt she started spending time with local musicians and was soon performing in small venues. A few years later a couple of them were in a band called Chicken Shack and she joined them a while later. The band often performed at the same venues with Fleetwood Mac. After being invited to record piano parts on some Fleetwood Mac recordings, she was eventually asked to join.

She recorded 4 solo albums, 14 Fleetwood Mac albums and touring extensively.

Apologies for no jokes or pithy comments.
