Imagine the existential angst of Dan Whooton waking up one day to find he hasn’t got anything to rant about. For someone whose whole career is based on being outraged and angry this was a life change he wasn’t prepared for. What he did next will amaze you.
Dan Whooton apparently likes to spend time at the failing GB News being angry on weekdays in the evening. This is what his Twitter blurb says, although as almost nobody watches it, which is why GB News is failing, no one knows if he still broadcasts. His trademark is a predictable faux right wing outrage at the usual things : Gary Lineker, BBC, immigrants, Meghan Markle, unions, Nichola Sturgeon, Sadiq Kahn, climate change etc. The signs that he was drying up came when he started ranting about the withdrawal of the drink Lilt.
Then he woke up on Sunday and couldn’t think of anything to be angry about. A concerned friend phoned 111 but they couldn’t help. They took him outside to shout at the clouds, a favourite pastime, but nothing. They took him to his favourite traffic lights that he liked to shout at. Nothing. Desperation was setting in.
Eventually they took a trip into London, a favourite ranting ground, and wandering around Paddington Station he started ranting at the stairs.

He was back. Let’s ignore the fact that the stairs are nothing to do with Sadiq Kahn and are the responsibility of Network Rail, and that it’s unlikely that Sadiq Kahn would take personal interest in what was written on any stairs. All it took was ranting at stairs.
